The Asset Recovery Group
The Asset Recovery Group is a US-based NGO set up by exiled Ukrainian dissident, Oleksandr Onyshchenko. Our aim is to recover the $5 billion that was embezzled by Former President Petro Poroshenko and his inner circle. Mr Onyshchenko has dedicated himself to exposing the corruption of the former government of Ukraine and fighting against any corruption that exists within the system as remnants of the old regime. His in-depth knowledge of the criminal systems that remain in the Ukrainian parliament makes him the most capable person to take on the role of fighting the hydra that is the corruption within the government. In the words of Transparency International, "Transparency is central to tackling corruption – access, participation and collaboration depend on it – and if transparency is the first step towards progress, accountability is the next. Yet holding governments accountable for the things they said they would do is the piece of the puzzle that all too often gets forgotten."
Oleksandr Onyshchenko is a Ukrainian politician, who started his political career in 2010 with his election to the Kyiv regional council. In 2012 he reached the level of the national politician being elected to the Parliament of Ukraine. In 2013 Mr Onyshchenko was listed among the richest men of Ukraine with a fortune of $65.2 million.
In 2016 Mr Onyshchenko became a victim of political persecution launched by the Ukrainian Government. President Poroshenko persecuted Onyshchenko because of support which he had given to opposition leader Mrs Tymoshenko, including financial support of Mrs Tymoshenko's political party Fatherland. On February 6 2017, The German Higher Regional Court of Koblenz issued a decision which ruled out any criminality in the actions of Mr Onyshchenko. Most notably, the State of Ukraine did not give any evidence of Mr Onyshchenko’s involvement in criminal activity, and no definitive circumstances were shown.
"Oleksandr Onyshchenko fell out of favour with Petro Poroshenko in 2016… and fled the country after being charged with embezzling from a state-owned energy company… the case against him is politically motivated."
"A prominent businessman in Ukraine, Oleksandr Onyshchenko was forced to leave Ukraine after accusing President Petro Poroshenko of pervasive corruption and making his mark as a staunch opposition supporter. Charges and arrest warrants were issued as a result of Mr Onyshchenko revealing audiotapes that exposed high-level corruption in President Poroshenko’s inner circle."

Peter The Fifth
One does not often write books about the rulers of the state while they are still in power. Typically, such ventures, if they are destined to get on bookshelves, are similar to home-grown PR of court technologists and journalists. Mostly they are about how good the king is.
This book has a unique history of its creation. It is about the tsar, the fifth president of independent Ukraine, written and published during his governance. The book is about Petro Poroshenko. At the same time, the book is written not by a writer, but by a businessman, politician and former friend of the President, Oleksandr Onyshchenko.
